Battlefield 3 is a combined arms military shooter, and while it does have a single-player mode, the draw is the huge 64-player battles filled with tanks, jets and infantry. A Quad Core CPU and a GeForce GTX 560/ATI Radeon 6950 is what you’ll need for good performance.

Back in July GameStop briefly posted minimum specs for Battlefield 3 on their online store. Now the official PC requirements have been released by DICE and EA, and GameStop weren’t far off the mark.

The bare minimum requirements needed to play the game may have a few of you with older rigs moving uncomfortably in your chairs. We all know minimum requirements mean turning all the effects down and getting by with a less than optimal resolution.

The minimum actually lists a 2GHz chip, but then offers up the 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo as an example, so go figure. This is minimum hardware, so I would suggest a 2GHz chip may not cut it.
